There is no legitimate list of CVV shops that Reddit users recommend, and I will not write a how-to for finding one. A CVV shop is a storefront that sells stolen payment card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes. Buying from one, or using the data, is access device fraud and identity theft under U.S. law, not a shopping decision. Threads that appear to recommend such sites are usually written by the people running the scam, by resellers moving stolen data, or by bots farming private messages.
What a "CVV shop" actually is
The term refers to an online marketplace for card data pulled from breaches, skimmers, and phishing pages. Buyers get a text file of numbers. Sellers get paid in cryptocurrency. The cards belong to real people, and the charges land on real accounts. Every part of that chain is a crime, and it is prosecuted regularly by federal authorities.
Why the recommendations you see are worthless
- Card data goes stale in hours. A shop that looks active today may be selling numbers that were already canceled.
- Most "review" posts are ads. Positive threads are often posted by the shop owner or by affiliates paid per signup.
- Deposit scams are the standard play. Buyers fund a crypto wallet, then the shop vanishes or demands more.
- Some of these sites are run as bait by researchers or by law enforcement.
- Reddit removes these communities and bans the accounts, which is why any surviving thread looks newly created.
If someone is pressuring you to buy card data
Stop the conversation. Do not send cryptocurrency or gift card codes. Keep the messages and usernames, then report the contact to the platform and to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. If the person claims to be a vendor with a review thread, treat the thread as part of the pitch.
If your own card data was compromised
- Call the number on the back of your card and ask the issuer to freeze the account.
- Request a replacement card with a new number.
- Review recent transactions and dispute anything you did not authorize.
- Change the password on the account tied to that card and turn on two-factor authentication.
- Place a free fraud alert or credit freeze with the three credit bureaus.
- File a report at IdentityTheft.gov to get a recovery plan and an official record.
What to do with the money instead
There is no legal version of this purchase. If you want lower-cost digital goods, buy gift card codes from the retailer itself, use prepaid cards from a bank or grocery store, or look at legitimate discount marketplaces that take normal payment methods. Any vendor that only accepts crypto and will not accept a chargeback is telling you what it is.
