Understanding Bin Attacks
A bin attack, also known as a BIN attack, is a form of fraud where cybercriminals use a stolen Bank Identification Number (BIN) to make unauthorized purchases.
What is a BIN?
The Bank Identification Number is a unique 6-8 digit number assigned to every credit and debit card, identifying the issuing institution.
Preventative Measures
- Monitor your accounts regularly for any unauthorized transactions.
- Use two-factor authentication whenever possible.
- Avoid entering sensitive information on unsecured websites.
What to Do if Compromised
If you suspect a bin attack, contact your bank immediately. Change your passwords and monitor your accounts for any signs of further fraud.
